Description

Bismuth shot alloy for shot making is the same alloy mixture that we use for making the high quality bismuth shot produced in the USA and sold on our website.   The alloy consists of 94% bismuth and 6% tin, providing an excellent alloy for home use.  We have made this alloy available for purchase at a lower price  for those who wish to produce their own custom shot sizes of lead free alternative bullet metals.  Bismuth is one of the softest of all the non-toxic alternative shot types making it very suitable for old double guns and other shotguns with fixed chokes. Rotometals Bismuth Shot alloy is a great non-toxic alternative to lead. No other non-toxic shot performs this similar to lead. ***Size and overall appearance may vary from sample picture.***

 Melts at about 500F

Lead Free & Non-toxic: Rotometals Bismuth Shot materials are approved for use by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.

    Works well for jig heads!

Posted by John King on Aug 15th 2021

When the price of the bullet bismuth went way up I started looking around for something else. I did not have to look far. Rotometals had this product and I was confident enough in what we've done in the past to forego a test order and buy several pounds. I like it even better than what I was using before for our jig heads at Glasswater Angling LLC. The bullet bismuth we were using is alloyed with a bit of anitmony which is somewhat toxic and this alloy has none which makes it more marketable in the lead free fishing arena. It melts great, it pops out of the mold just fine and has a nice bit of texture that holds paint well. At 94% bismuth it has the best density of anything I have found so far. For lead free wire baits you can't go wrong with this product.

This rejected shot is perfect for melting and reforming. I enjoy the quantity discount as well as free shipping with an order of ten pounds. Roto Metals delivered my order in just a few days even in the midst of this holiday season during a global pandemic. Good show Roto Metals, good show indeed !

    Just as advertised.

It works just like lead when casting round ball in a .595 mold. I plan to purchase more in the future.
