Bismuth shot for reloading shotgun shells. Rotometals Bismuth Shot is alloyed with 6% tin to increase pellet integrity. Bismuth is one of the softest of all the non-toxic alternative shot types making it very suitable for old double guns and other shotguns with fixed chokes. Rotometals Bismuth Shot is a great non-toxic alternative to lead. No other non-toxic shot performs this similar to lead.
#3.5, ( ~.145", 3.45 mm) ~137 BB's per ounce. Bismuth's density is 9.6 grams/cubic centimeter.

I loaded #4s over the summer and used them early in the season. Wow what an improvement over steel. The use of leadshot propellants and wads is fantastic. Stuff you can find in gun stores off the shelf. Early October I contacted Roto Metals and asked if they could make Me a #3 shot. They said not a problem. I hung up and called back and asked about a #3.5. Their answer was I think we can do that. Sure enough. To me the #3.5 Bismuth is a compromise that gets you close to both energy and shot count of a #4 lead shot. My first Duck season was the first mandated non toxic shot Waterfowl season. I now know why My Dad was so frustrated that first Opener we used steel shot. So far Bismuth has been like a 10lb hammer. If you want a shot size custom made contact Roto Metal like I did. Fun to see them advertising #3.5 after my custom order in late September early October.
