Description

Zinc Sheet .027" Soft Alloy. Please select you size above.

We do not recommend picking different thicknesses of the zinc to use on the same project as they may have different tones or grains to the material that will not match together.

Why is this referred to as Soft Zinc? The soft zinc has a higher purity than our standard zinc, as it has no titanium added and this makes it much softer to bend and fabricate for do-it-yourselfers. It is still food safe and will patina and change colors with time!

Please note that different widths of the soft zinc will look different from each other as they are from different mills. If you are buying multiple pieces, you must buy the same thickness so that the sheets will look the same.

We recommend you order a piece that is larger then you need.

PVC - We ship our zinc sheets without PVC covering. If you would like to add PVC to your sheet to help minimize scratches, click here; you may add that to your order here. Make sure to order one PVC Lining per sheet ordered.

Shipping Warning- The most economical way to ship .020, .027, .030 sheets is via UPS/FedEx rolled up in a box. However 5-10% of the time UPS/FedEx can damage the edges of the sheets in transit. UPS/FedEx most likely won't cover this via their insurance, so we recommend if you need the full width of the sheet then have the sheets shipped via freight. You must call to arrange freight shipping. Most people however don't need the full width, at they will be cutting off some of the edge or folding it under, so shipping via parcel service is fine. In addition, if you choose LTL/Freight, you MUST either reply to your original order confirmation or call if you need it shipped flat, or it will come rolled. There is an additional charge for flat freight.

Warning
Due to the nature of product, some scratches and blemishes should be expected. Metal sheets, just like their antique counterparts, may contain a certain amount of flaws, smudges, and scratches especially after shipping. Most of these marks can be buffed out using 0000 Steel Wool once the sheet is installed. IMPORTANT make sure you unroll and reverse lay the sheet to help it relax and flatten back out faster. You also may apply some heat to help relax it. If you leave the sheet in the shipping box for more then 10-12 days then it becomes harder to flatten.

** TO AVOID THIS, WE HIGHLY SUGGEST UPGRADED SHIPPING VIA LTL, IF YOU WANT TO DO THAT, PLEASE COMMENT IN YOUR ORDER AND WE WILL GET YOU SOME QUOTES.

I love my outdoor zinc tabletops!!!

Posted by Jennifer G on Dec 4th 2025

I was a little nervous about trying to make my own zinc tabletops for two outdoor tables I made but it came out beautifully. They are so cool! I am grateful to Rotometals website for all its helpful information and videos - they really came in handy. I went with the .027"/22 ga soft zinc because it sounded best for a rookie like me. Cutting the metal with tin snips was easy, bending it around the edges of my tabletops around to the underside where I could secure the top with screws was work. I wanted them to look aged, so I was okay with my handiwork not being perfectly crisp and dent free. If you are doing this for the first time and want perfect, crisp edges, I would definitely rent the machine from Rotometals which will neatly fold the metal for you. For me to fold my edges it took a heat gun, a rubber mallet, creativity with these great quality clamps I had and scrap wood to make the folds cleaner, a lot of patience, and some stubborn hand strength. You will need other supplies: you will need to solder the corners so you'll need zinc solder and flux. You'll need the adhesive to secure the underside of your zinc sheet to the surface you are adhering it to. Absolutely order the proper Sikaflex 1a Rotometals sells and be sure to read how much it covers and DON"T CHEAP OUT AND UNDER ORDER YOUR ADHESIVE. The amount I got squeaked by as the exact precise amount I needed - I blew through those three tubes quickly. Before you do this as a project, make sure to watch the videos to know what you need and what you need to do. The people leaving complaining reviews clearly did not do their homework. I would want to do a practice table project or two like I did before tackling making zinc countertops for a kitchen or bar. If I make kitchen countertops (which would look so cool!) I would definitely rent that metal folder and I'd get more zinc then I needed to practice my folds. I'd also call or message Rotometals to confirm directly if I'd want this gauge or a thicker/stiffer one. I think a dented countertop might bug me. What got me wanting to do this is a have an older outdoor zinc topped table and it has weathered outside to this gorgeous patina. Once it gets to the patina you'd like, you can sand it some with super fine grit paper to smooth it without losing all the aging, and then you can seal it with carnauba car wax and it looks amazing plus completely repels water. I applied the wax and then buffed it with my orbital sander with a microfiber towel instead of sandpaper. Good luck with your project!

    Soft alloy zinc

Posted by Tori D on Jan 22nd 2025

I found this great to work more intricate details and folds compared to the pure zinc. Takes darkening solutions almost the same as well. Scratches more easily of course, but im using it for decorative elements that arnt handled.

Arrived timely, properly packaged and in excellent condition. Thank you. Not sure if simply coincidental, but around the same time I received what appeared to be a phishing effort from what looked like a fake DHL address as follows : Teamᴰᴴᴸ noreply-havuybf@ghfgndxizyezqoz.com via gbr01-lo2-obe.outbound.protection.outlook.com . They were looking for another $2.00. Just wanted to let you know in case you had seen this activity proximate to your web sales delivery
