Description

5 pound ingot

This ingot measures approximately 8-3/4" x 1" x 2"/

This is an alloy of 30% Antimony and 70% Lead that is a great source for hardening up your lead or wheel weights and is much easier to melt then pure antimony as we have done the alloying for you. This alloy will melt at around 745 Degrees which should be easy to reach in most small melting pots.

We sell Super Hard based on the percentage of antimony in the alloy. Note: We make no promise on Brinell Hardness of Super Hard, as the crystalline structure of the alloy does not allow us to properly measure it
, you would need a special commercial larger ball diameter machine in order to read the hardness correctly.

Lots of great info here about using super hard!

product seems to be just as advertised. Seller shipped quickly and product arrived with no issues. Have not used the alloy yet but see no reason to be concerned.

super hard alloy works great but something seems strange

Ok check this out 5 pounds of super hard and one pound of antimony are usually about the same price within a couple dollars or so. So when you buy super hard there is actually 1.5 pounds of antimony in that 5 pound ingot plus 3.5 pounds of lead. That's like getting four pounds of metal for free or Roto Metals is charging way to much for antimony. But really it is a good product much easier and cleaner than alloying the antimony yourself.

I used 1# of the SH with 4# of pure and 2 oz. of tin nuggets to get a BHN of 13.8. Roto shipping was fast and the ingots arrived well packaged. I will definitely be using them again.

    Seems good.

I usually use this to make a blend just a tad tougher than Linotype. Stuff is way to brittle to use alone. But blends amazingly. Don’t forget to flux.
