Zinc Armor - Why?

While black stains on roofs are a cosmetic issue, moss growth is more than just cosmetic. Not only does moss look terrible on roofs, it will also shorten the life of the roof covering and possibly lead to roof leaks. Whether you have wood or asphalt shingles, moss can grow on the roof if it doesn’t dry properly.

How does it work?

Zinc Armor works when rain rolls over the metal in the strip, and tiny metal particles are carried down the roof. The metal is poisonous to algae, moss, lichen, fungus, mold and other simple plant life, all of which stain, look bad, and are unhealthy for your roof. The moss that’s growing will gradually wither, die and fall off, and so should stains and other simple plant life organisms, when everything is working properly.

How to install:

Install at the ridges of the roof, along the hips or under courses of shingles as needed to make sure that the rainwater washes zinc down the roof. It needs reapplying every 5 years or so. For more details, see our link below.
